I have been wanting to start a new project, something unique. When I started looking at patterns, I remembered Frank O'Randle, a crochet designer with some seriously amazing patterns.
I looked at the options available on his Ravelry page and decided to go with the Mini Rings of Change pattern. I had purchased a couple skeins of Lion Brand Ice Cream yarn in the Blue Moon blend of blue and white hues with my daughter in mind last week. So I decided to use it for the project and call it hers.
Here is what I've gotten accomplished so far. I love this pattern, it's the mini version of the larger Rings of Change paid pattern. And I totally purchased the full pattern so I could go beyond the scope of the miniature version.
On the life side of things...
My son had ear tube surgery this two Mondays ago and has become a completely different kid ever since. He's happier and more playful and it really makes me feel bad for how long we let him be miserable. Of course, we thought he was just a baby-jerk all this time. We never realized the extent of his misery or the effect it was having on his personality.
My daughter turns 6 in less than two weeks. And it is insane how quickly time passes. She was just born, like yesterday... Right?!? She's looking forward to her party at a local bowling alley with her friends. Then of course there is the prospect of presents from her family at the family gathering here at the house the following day.
As for me, I've decided to join a Biggest Loser style weight loss challenge on Facebook to reignite my own weight loss journey for the month of March and I'm kinda super excited about that. I have not been doing well for myself since the beginning of the year. I've made a lot of really poor eating and lifestyle choices and am paying the price with a few extra pounds.
On top of that, I am going to be doing a bit more than the required fasting during this season of Lent. I will also be fasting from unnecessary spending and using the money I would have spent frivolously to make a donation to a local charity at the end of Lent.
My hubby has been working hard and was even out of town for 3 days earlier this week. It is always a tough time for those of us left behind when he's out of town. But this round went surprisingly well.
I am very much looking forward to getting back into the swing of writing and blogging again. It's been a very long time. But it's also long overdue!
